Position Summary
Tile Company is seeking a knowledgeable, detail-oriented Estimator to prepare accurate estimates for tile installations,
bathroom renovations, flooring, and related remodeling projects.
This person will meet with customers, visit job sites, take measurements, determine labor and material requirements,
and prepare clear, professional proposals. The ideal candidate understands tile and remodeling work, communicates
well with customers and contractors, and can price projects competitively while protecting company profitability.
Key Responsibilities
● Meet with homeowners, contractors, designers, and other customers to discuss project requirements.
● Visit job sites to take measurements, inspect existing conditions, and identify potential challenges.
● Prepare detailed estimates for tile installation, bathroom remodeling, flooring, backsplashes, showers, and related projects.
● Calculate costs for materials, labor, demolition, surface preparation, waterproofing, equipment, subcontractors, permits,
waste, overhead, and profit.
● Review blueprints, drawings, specifications, photographs, and customer selections.
● Determine tile quantities, patterns, layouts, trim requirements, and appropriate waste allowances.
● Identify plumbing, electrical, carpentry, waterproofing, and structural work that may affect the estimate.
● Obtain and compare pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
● Prepare professional proposals outlining scope, pricing, allowances, exclusions, and payment terms.
● Present estimates, answer customer questions, and follow up to help convert proposals into signed contracts.
● Prepare change-order estimates when the customer or project scope changes.
● Maintain current pricing and provide project managers and installers with a complete handoff.
● Compare estimated costs with actual costs to improve future estimates and maintain organized project records.
Qualifications
● At least two years of experience in construction estimating, tile installation, remodeling, sales, or project management
preferred.
● Working knowledge of tile installation, shower systems, waterproofing, flooring, and bathroom remodeling.
● Ability to take accurate field measurements, calculate material quantities, and read construction plans and specifications.
● Strong mathematical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
● Professional written and verbal communication, with strong customer-service and sales abilities.
● Comfort using spreadsheets, email, estimating software, and customer-management systems.
● Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for job-site visits.
Preferred Qualifications
● Direct experience estimating tile and bathroom projects.
● Knowledge of waterproofing systems, substrates, setting materials, grout, and industry installation standards.
● Experience working with designers, general contractors, homeowners, and subcontractors.
● Familiarity with construction contracts, change orders, budgets, local building codes, and permit requirements.
Physical & Work Requirements
● Ability to travel to customer homes and active construction sites and safely navigate unfinished spaces and stairs.
● Ability to bend, kneel, take measurements, and occasionally carry samples, measuring equipment, and plans.
● Availability for occasional early-morning, evening, or weekend customer appointments.
Performance Expectations
● Accuracy and completeness of estimates and material quantities.
● Proposal turnaround time, gross-profit margins, and estimate-to-contract conversion rate.
● Customer satisfaction and quality of communication.
● Accuracy of project handoffs and change orders
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
