Join our compassionate team as a Memory Care Activities Assistant, where your enthusiasm and dedication will make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors living with memory impairments such as Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. In this vital role, you will create engaging, therapeutic, and enjoyable activities tailored to residents’ needs, fostering a warm and supportive environment that promotes independence, socialization, and well-being. Your energy and creativity will help build lasting rapport with residents while supporting their emotional and cognitive health.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of engaging activities and events designed to stimulate memory, promote social interaction, and enhance residents’ quality of life.
- Assist residents with daily living activities (ADLs), including mobility, grooming, and recreational exercises, ensuring safety and comfort at all times.
- Develop individualized activity plans that cater to residents’ interests, abilities, and care requirements, incorporating recreational therapy techniques when appropriate.
- Foster strong relationships with residents by building trust and rapport through meaningful interactions and personalized attention.
- Collaborate closely with nursing staff, caregivers, social workers, and family members to ensure holistic care that addresses each resident’s unique needs.
- Support residents during outings or community events that promote engagement beyond the facility.
- Maintain accurate documentation of activities provided, resident participation, and progress notes in compliance with facility policies.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or senior care environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of memory care practices, dementia care strategies, and aging issues counseling.
- Experience in event planning or program development tailored to seniors with cognitive impairments.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and scheduling purposes.
- Ability to coordinate resident events and manage schedules efficiently while maintaining flexibility for changing needs.
- Compassionate caregiving approach with a genuine interest in working with geriatric patients and individuals with disabilities.
