Overview
We are seeking a dependable Paint Prep Technician to join a growing manufacturing team in Livingston CA. In this role, you will prepare metal parts and equipment for painting by cleaning, sanding, grinding, masking, and priming surfaces to ensure a high-quality finish. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with manufacturing, metal fabrication, auto body, or industrial paint preparation experience.
Location: Livingston, CA
Pay: $20.00/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Overtime: Must be flexible to start at 6:00 AM during hotter months. Overtime may be required.
Essential Responsibilities
- Prepare metal surfaces by sanding, grinding, cleaning, and masking prior to painting.
- Remove rust, grease, dirt, scale, and other contaminants to ensure proper paint adhesion.
- Apply primer to metal components as needed.
- Inspect parts before painting to verify they meet quality standards.
- Safely operate grinders, sanders, and other hand and power tools.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Assist with other production and manufacturing duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in paint preparation, manufacturing, metal fabrication, or a related field preferred.
- Experience using grinders, sanders, and other hand and power tools.
- Ability to read a tape measure and follow work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Reliable attendance and a positive work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
