Position: ReStore Cashier Associate Part-Time
Reports to: ReStore Manager
Days/Hours: 24-32 hours; Wednesday through Saturday: 8:30-5 pm
As our organization continues to grow we are seeking a dedicated staff member to join our expanding ReStore team to help support our commitment to providing safe and affordable housing in Centre County.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The mission of Habitat for Humanity Greater Centre County (HFHGCC) is to partner with homeowner families to build affordable, quality homes and to provide support services that promote successful homeownership. The ReStore Associate position is responsible for assisting customers and providing the ultimate in customer service, serving as ambassadors for Habitat. The ReStore Associate position will operate our point of sale register and will assist with loading and unloading customer and donor purchases and donations. The ReStore Associate position is an active role and can also assist with donation pickups and unloading our box truck. Additional responsibilities will include day to day retail operations and inventory management of the ReStore sales floor and warehouse. Additionally this position will work with volunteers and assist in volunteer management.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Assist with daily retail operations including operating cash register Point of Sale
- Interact positively with customers and donors to foster goodwill and repeat business
- Load and unload merchandise routinely from our warehouse, box truck and customer/donor vehicles
- Screen donations for acceptability according to guidelines; receiving, sorting and processing donations
- Assist with inventory restocking in a timely and efficient manner to keep sales floor full at all times
- Assisting customers by answering questions and enhancing their shopping experience.
- Help maintain organization and safety of the sales floor, work areas and warehouse
- Maintain an effective working relationship with ReStore staff, volunteers, Habitat homeowners and ReStore customers and donors
OTHER DUTIES:
- Address potential hazards to staff, customers or donors in an expedient manner
- Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned
- Assist with donation pickups and unloading box truck when needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Retail Experience preferred
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED
- Handling cash, basic math, counting skills, calculator use
- Must have knowledge of basic computer skills
- Successful employees will have problem solving and to utilize time management and space management to juggle an ever-changing environment.
- Communication skills and interpersonal skills are important for dealing with customers as well as fellow staff members and volunteers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift 50-75 lbs
- Ability to work in a warehouse setting subject to heat, cold, and dust
- Ability to stand / walk on concrete surface for long periods
