The Supervisor of Capital Projects will manage each assigned Capital Construction Project, in-house facility projects, and various other district improvements from formal design through the completion and warranty periods.
Major duties and responsibilities:
- Acts as the district's lead representative in assigned matters pertaining to new construction, renovation, remodeling, or major system/component replacement.
- Works with architects, engineers, construction managers, inspectors, and other relevant parties to coordinate activities.
- In conjunction with the Assistant Director of Facilities, prepares Requests for Proposals for architect, engineer, and construction management for projects as necessary.
- Monitors the architects, engineers, and construction managers compliance with their respective contracts.
- Coordinates the inclusion of educational specifications for the projects.
- Reviews blueprints to ensure satisfactory design and coordination.
- Coordinates and communicates key planning dates to building principals and other stakeholders. Reviews status of schedule and apprises Assistant Director of Facilities of schedule concerns and changes.
- Makes frequent inspections of assigned projects underway to note contract compliance and observe safety compliance, reporting discrepancies to the appropriate parties.
- Coordinates and completes required permitting documentation and processes, attending necessary meetings to obtain governmental approval.
- Monitors project budgets for compliance.
- Attends all job conferences for all assigned projects.
- In coordination with contractors, ensures that punch list and warrant items are resolved in a timely manner.
Requirements:
- Applicants must possess a High School diploma.
- An Associate's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management is preferred.
- 5 or more years of practical experience managing non-residential building projects.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents such as prints, schematic drawings, shop drawings, contracts, etc.
- Good written, oral, and organizational skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and operating manuals.
- The applicant should have corrected hearing or vision within normal ranges.
- This position requires standing, crawling, walking, twisting, bending, sitting, pushing, kneeling, stooping, lifting, stretching, and working on a ladder.
- A successful candidate must be available for on-call evening and weekend hours.
