About the Role:
As a key member of our Preconstruction team, the Commercial Estimator plays a critical role in shaping the success of our projects. You’ll be responsible for developing accurate, competitive cost estimates across a variety of commercial construction jobs, working closely with teams throughout the company to produce high-quality proposals. This role directly supports Mid-States' commitment to profitability, efficiency, and exceptional client service - making your work essential to our mission of delivering excellence in every build.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed sales estimates and proposals in coordination with the Regional Sales Representative, as well as architects, engineers, and contractors involved in the bidding process.
- Partner with Purchasing and IT teams to maintain and enhance pricing tools, identifying opportunities to improve accuracy and protect project margins.
- Develop and maintain customer relationships by providing ongoing touches through events, office visits, phone calls, meetings, and other digital interactions.
- Work closely with sales and project management to ensure alignment between the estimate, customer expectations, and project delivery capabilities.
- Contribute to value engineering efforts, identifying cost-saving options and alternative design solutions without compromising quality or schedule.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience working in the construction space (estimating, sales, engineering, design, project management, or field)
- Excellent understanding of construction processes (architectural drawings, details, and constructability).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)
- Proficient in Blueprint reading
