Whitley Law Firm is a dynamic and fast-paced plaintiff’s personal injury law firm. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Investigator committed to advocating for our clients'. With a proven record of excellence in client service, individualized attention and delivering successful outcomes, we are seeking an Investigator who has a strong background in investigations, works well cross-collaboratively, and is eager to contribute significantly to the firm’s progress.
Anticipated Schedule: Full-Time | Monday - Friday | 8:00am - 5:00pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with attorneys and paralegals to investigate a caseload of personal injury cases.
- Interpret State and Federal Law Enforcement reports.
- Obtain witness statements and gather detailed facts and opinions regarding injury incidents.
- Collaborate with law enforcement to identify and address errors or omissions in reports.
- Provide supplementary evidence to Law Enforcement Agencies or Personnel.
- Conduct social media investigations.
- Photograph and measure incident scenes.
- Retrieve records from courts, law enforcement agencies, law offices, and doctors' offices.
- Ensure the responsible handling of personal and confidential information in accordance with DPPA, HIPAA, and other State and Federal regulations.
- Canvass scenes for witnesses, cameras, and other case-relevant evidence.
- Submit public record requests.
- Research DMV and other Governmental Records via forms or private access accounts.
- Visit clients remotely to sign retainers and other case-relevant documents.
- Operate, interpret and communicate raw data from third-party databases.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Preferred fluency in English and Spanish.
- Must possess a valid NC license, with good driving history, and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Strong understanding and interpretation of State and Federal law enforcement. reports, legal documentation, and insurance procedures.
- Proficient with investigative tools and databases (criminal, civil, driving records, social media, cameras, audio recorders, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to conduct interviews and interact. professionally with clients, witnesses, officers, and defendants.
- Strong verbal and written communication for relaying information and requesting information.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical skills to interpret data and case evidence.
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Proficiency in utilizing legal case management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other office equipment.
- Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate within a team.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and in accordance with DPAA, HIPAA, and other regulations.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, legal studies, related field, or equivalent experience required.
- Proven experience in personal injury investigations or a similar legal investigative field.
- At least one year (1) of previous experience in personal injury law, investigations, or a related field is required.
- Experience in drafting legal letters (e.g., spoliation letters) and submitting FOIA requests.
