Job Summary
The Assistant Project Manager (Field Support) is a critical support role that assists Project Managers (PMs) in the effective execution and management of multiple construction projects. This role acts as a logistical and informational field resource, ensuring seamless coordination between the office, field crews, and job sites. The Assistant PM manages materials, verifies project readiness, and ensures compliance across all assigned projects. Furthermore, they act as the central hub for gathering and reporting timely information, directly helping Project Managers keep work on schedule and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Support & Logistics Coordination
- Visit project sites before the start date to verify conditions and ensure everything is set for the crew's arrival.
- Assist crews with job setup, which may include introductions to on-site personnel, material and machinery delivery, and guidance.
- Confirm timely and accurate material deliveries for all assigned projects, verifying proper on-site receipt and correct quantities. If any discrepancies, damages, or shortages are found, immediately notify the Project Manager before leaving the jobsite.
- The Assistant PM will work to optimize material usage and reduce waste to support the Project Managers' budget goals.
- Quickly assess and help resolve project issues that arise across various sites, minimizing downtime and maintaining project momentum.
Information Gathering & Reporting
- Receive crucial project details from the Project Manager, including start date, location, special hours, material needs, equipment rentals, and specific instructions.
- Attend all essential on-site meetings across all assigned projects. This includes daily safety huddles, weekly scheduling coordination meetings, and pre-installation meetings (PIMs) with the General Contractor (GC) and other trades.
- Participate in weekly meetings with the Project Manager, Superintendent, Warehouse Manager, and other key personnel, discussing job status, upcoming projects, and potential challenges.
- Maintain consistent communication with PMs, providing daily updates on crew status, equipment needs, project progress, and critical issues.
- Communicate effectively with General Contractors regarding deliveries, project needs, and potential issues across different sites. Answer calls, texts, and/or emails from General Contractors within 24 hours.
- Perform on-site project walk-throughs to gather accurate data and address inquiries. Gather final photos and any required field paperwork.
Safety & Quality Control
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices and implement proper safety protocols. The Assistant PM must immediately address any observed non-compliance by our crews and report the details to the Superintendent without delay.
- Check the quality of work and fix any mistakes immediately. Report any recurring quality issues to the Superintendent.
- Ensure all work adheres strictly to the bid documents. Communicate any necessary changes or deviations to the Project Manager for approval and documentation.
General & Collaborative Responsibilities
- Effectively manage personal and company email correspondence.

- Collaborate with colleagues across all departments, maintaining a positive and supportive attitude.
- Work independently, take initiative, and be prepared to assist with other administrative tasks as requested by management and colleagues.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding company financials, project bids, employee records, and client information, and is required to sign the company's Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) as a condition of employment.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 1+ years of construction experience (management experience preferred).
- Possess a deep understanding of materials and equipment. Effectively interpret blueprints, translating them into actionable tasks on the ground.
- OSHA 30 and CPR (training can be provided).
- Proven ability to operate and maintain heavy construction equipment. Have experience in standard Construction equipment (Boom lifts, Scissor lifts, forklifts, and/or Lulls).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency is required for effective communication with field crews and site leadership.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Proven ability to manage stress and work under pressure. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented and quality-focused. Valid driver's license required. Tech savvy (able to use a tablet/laptop, able to use Office 360, PDF, etc.).
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This role primarily operates on active construction job sites across multiple locations. This requires the ability to handle complex situations and adverse conditions while remaining calm and composed. The ability to travel is required to support job site needs. The physical demands include the ability to occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Pay: $50,000.00 - $59,000.00 per year
