Duties
- Assist veterinary staff with animal handling, restraint, and care during examinations, treatments, and surgeries
- Prepare treatment areas by cleaning, disinfecting, and organizing supplies in accordance with aseptic techniques
- Support laboratory procedures including sample collection, processing, and record keeping
- Help with animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and monitoring behavior
- Manage kennel duties by cleaning cages, monitoring animal welfare, and ensuring proper record documentation
- Assist with medication administration, IV insertions, catheterizations, and other basic veterinary procedures under supervision
- Maintain accurate records of treatments, procedures, and patient information while adhering to confidentiality standards
Qualifications
- Prior kennel experience or animal handling background preferred; experience with dogs, horses or other animals is a plus
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy and physiology is highly desirable
- Experience in veterinary clinics or hospitals with skills in surgery support and critical care is advantageous
- Ability to perform cleaning duties diligently while following PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) protocols to ensure safety
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration
- Capable of handling multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Basic laboratory skills including sample processing or record keeping are beneficial
