This is a non-clinical, part-time role focused on teaching the Medication Administration core curriculum to Direct Support Workers. The LPN will serve as instructor of weekly 2-day classes (Wed/Thurs). A 3rd day will be worked elsewhere in the week, based on the LPN's availability, to complete paperwork & home visits. Estimated 20-25 weekly hours.

Responsibilities of the LPN:
- Deliver weekly Medication Administration classes to newly hired Direct Support Workers, providing instruction on topic areas including how to safely administer medications, reading a pharmacy label, documenting on a MAR, checking vitals, understanding mental health issues, infection control, using mechanical lifts, and more. (Under the supervision of the RN.)
- Successfully manage in-person class attendees while utilizing Skype for video-based instruction in two remote offices.
- Evaluate students’ return demonstrations on monitoring blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, and glucose.
- Discuss any incorrect answers or demonstrations with students, ensuring their understanding of core instructional areas.
- Collect completed paperwork from Med Class attendees and ensure all necessary documents are complete, signed, and organized.
- Conduct client assessments & home visits as needed.
- Assist RN with administrative duties to ensure safe and proper medication administration and treatments are being provided to LHCL clients.
- Properly document all client communications, care plan or medical changes, visit notes, or incidents.
- Comply with all program guidelines and meet requirements established by LDH, Medicaid, LSBN, and LHCL.

Requirements:
- Must have a valid Louisiana LPN License.
- 2 years' experience preferred (nursing instructor / medication management / case management)
- Must be an effective Educator with strong communication & instructional skills.
- Strong administrative & organizational skills preferred.
- Adept at using technology / computers for video conferencing, as well as experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Satisfactorily pass all required and applicable State & Federal eligibility verifications including background, driving and other checks
- Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
