CNA Caregiver – Dementia Care
Part-Time and Full-Time | Triangle Area
Guiding Light Dementia Care is hiring several experienced CNA caregivers to provide specialized, one-on-one dementia care in clients’ homes. We welcome a wide range of availability, including weekdays, weekends, daytime, evening, and overnight shifts.
We specialize exclusively in supporting individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. We are looking for calm, dependable, and emotionally intelligent professionals who believe caregiving is meaningful work—not just a job.
Pay & Perks
- Competitive pay based on experience: $19-22 per hour

- Expected hours: 4–40 per week, depending on caregiver availability, client needs, and successful client matching

- Eligible for a performance and compensation review after completing 90 days of active client service. Eligibility is based on successful completion of required training, attendance, reliability, and job performance. The 90-day period begins with the caregiver’s first client shift; time spent employed without working client shifts does not count toward the 90-day period. A review does not guarantee a pay increase.
Important placement information: Completing the hiring process, paid orientation, and training does not guarantee immediate client placement, a specific schedule, or a minimum number of hours. Assignments depend on current client needs, location, caregiver availability, experience, and the suitability of the client-caregiver match. We will make every effort to offer appropriate assignments as they become available.
Requirements
- Current CNA certification in good standing
- At least one to two years of direct experience caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable vehicle and active automobile insurance
- Reliable transportation to clients’ homes
- Ability to assist safely with mobility and transfers
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a care team
- Willingness to collaborate with other caregivers, supervisors, clients’ families, and healthcare professionals
- Ability to receive direction, accept constructive feedback, and follow supervisory guidance
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Ability to pass a background check in accordance with state regulations
- Ability to complete all required agency orientation and training
Experience in home care, memory care, assisted living, or skilled nursing is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility
- Provide companionship and meaningful engagement
- Support clients experiencing memory loss, confusion, agitation, sundowning, or behavioral changes
- Use validation, reassurance, and redirection techniques without arguing with or repeatedly correcting clients
- Prepare meals and assist with light housekeeping
- Provide medication reminders within the permitted scope of care
- Follow individualized care plans, agency policies, and supervisory instructions
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with clients, families, coworkers, and supervisors
- Work cooperatively with the care team to provide consistent, high-quality care
- Keep supervisors informed and promptly report concerns, incidents, or changes in a client’s condition
- Participate positively in training, team meetings, and performance feedback
- Document the care provided accurately and on time
- Arrive on time, prepared, and professionally dressed
- Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries
