Lead Installer –Audio Visual & Lighting (AVL)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lead AVL Installer to oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of commercial audio-visual & lighting systems. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for leading field installation teams, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with commercial AVL integration, low-voltage systems, and construction environments, along with strong leadership and customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead installation crews on commercial AV projects from rough-in through final commissioning.
- Read and interpret engineered drawings, floor plans, elevations, rack elevations, and wiring diagrams.
- Install, terminate, label, and test low-voltage cabling including CAT6, fiber optic, HDMI, speaker cable, control cable, and coaxial cable.
- Install displays, projectors, LED walls, cameras, speakers, microphones, equipment racks, control systems, and conferencing equipment.
- Build, wire, and dress equipment racks according to company standards.
- Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance prior to project turnover.
- Coordinate daily jobsite activities with Project Managers, General Contractors, electricians, and other trades.
- Mentor and train junior technicians while maintaining productivity and workmanship standards.
- Ensure accurate documentation including redlines, punch lists, daily reports, and installation photos.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and inventory.
- Follow OSHA safety regulations and company safety procedures at all times.
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers and project stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of commercial AV installation experience.
- 1+ year of experience leading installation crews.
- Strong knowledge of commercial AV systems and signal flow.
- Experience with structured cabling and low-voltage installation practices.
- Experience with rigging speakers, LED walls, lighting equipment, etc. from high ceilings.
- Ability to read construction drawings and AV system documentation.
- Experience with equipment rack fabrication and cable management.
- Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and cable certification tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work from ladders, lifts, and scaffolding.
Preferred Qualifications
- AVIXA CTS or CTS-I certification.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Manufacturer certifications such as Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Shure, Logitech, or Microsoft Teams Rooms.
- Experience with Dante audio networking.
- Basic networking knowledge including TCP/IP, VLANs, and PoE.
- Experience with fiber optic termination and testing.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work overhead throughout the day.
- Lift and move equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Work on active construction sites and occasionally outdoors.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Pay: $33.00 - $36.00 per hour
