The purpose of this position is to performs semi-skilled and skilled work involving: the maintenance of beach, cemetery, grounds, streets, utilities, athletic fields and general maintenance of City and community facilities. Duties are contingent upon assigned department. This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of equipment, materials, and tools used in construction, grounds maintenance, utilities, or routine painting work.

Knowledge of proper safety practices, procedures, and regulations applicable to work being performed.

Knowledge of the equipment, methods, and materials used in ground maintenance.

Knowledge of the proper methods and procedures used in cleaning work areas and equipment.

Skill in the use and care of tools, equipment, and materials.

Skill in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with other City employees and the public.

Knowledge of basic tree trimming procedures.

Ability to take oral and/or written instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.

Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.

WORK HOURS:
Schedule: Primarily Friday-Sunday, 6:00am- 8:30pm, however, exact shift times and days off may vary by assigned work area. Candidates must be fully available, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed to meet the city's operational requirements.
