REB Solar is seeking an experienced Texas Journeyman Electrician with a strong background in residential solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
This position is ideal for someone who can confidently manage every phase of a project—from the initial site audit through installation, commissioning, inspection, and Permission to Operate (PTO). The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering quality workmanship and exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities Solar PV Installation
- Install complete residential solar PV systems
- Install roof-mounted and ground-mounted solar arrays
- Install racking systems, solar modules, inverters, disconnects, conduit, combiner boxes, and DC wiring
- Perform main service panel upgrades and load-side or supply-side interconnections
- Install production meters, CTs, rapid shutdown equipment, and monitoring hardware
- Read and interpret one-line diagrams, electrical plans, and engineering documents
- Troubleshoot existing solar PV systems and electrical issues
Battery Energy Storage Systems
- Install and commission AC-coupled and DC-coupled battery systems
- Install backup load centers and whole-home backup systems
- Perform battery commissioning, firmware updates, system testing, and customer hand off.
- Configure manufacturer monitoring platforms and verify communications
- Troubleshoot battery systems, inverter faults, networking, and communication issues
Project Responsibilities
- Perform initial site audits to verify project feasibility and electrical infrastructure
- Coordinate inspections and complete all requirements necessary for utility Permission to Operate (PTO)
- Ensure every installation complies with NEC, utility, AHJ, and manufacturer requirements
- Maintain accurate installation documentation and commissioning records
- Mentor installation crews and uphold the highest standards of safety and workmanship
Experience Required
Hands-on experience installing and commissioning battery systems, including:
- Tesla Powerwall
- Enphase IQ Battery
- SolarEdge Home Battery
- Sonnen
- Duracell Energy Storage
- EG4 Electronics
Experience with additional battery platforms and hybrid inverter systems is a plus.
Qualifications
- Current Texas Journeyman Electrician License (Required)
- Minimum years 1 of residential solar installation experience
- Proven experience installing and commissioning battery energy storage systems
- Strong understanding of AC-coupled and DC-coupled system architecture
- Experience with utility interconnections and the PTO process
- Experience using manufacturer commissioning portals and monitoring platforms
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical, networking, and communication issues
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting salary of $78,000+ per year, based on experience
