Essential Functions & Responsibilities Include the Following:
- Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
- Must be able to immobilize and simulate treatment fields provided by treatment planning and Radiation Oncologist instructions.
- Administer radiation treatments in accordance with prescription and instructions of Radiation Oncologist.
- Prepare room and provides educate and expectations for patients and is watchful of patient’s physical, emotional and mental state.
- Assume responsibilities to include but not limited to: knowledge of equipment, review of all patient charts, maintain complete and accurate patient records, maintain continuing education requirements, and remain up to date on pertinent federal, state requirements and WPH policies.
- Ability to be trained and complete competencies of position including radiation treatment and simulation. On call duties as necessary.
- Adheres to hospital wide customer service program. Perform all other related duties as assigned
Education & Experience Requirements
- High School graduate or GED certificate required
- Graduate of a committee of allied Health Education and Accreditation (AMA) accredited radiography program or equivalent
- Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent
- Current NYS license in Radiologic Technology. Current registry in the ARRT
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Continuing education requirements to meet standards
- Ability to identify and react correctly to emergency situations including internal and external disasters and medical emergencies

Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment
- May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital’s SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital’s Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
