Job Summary (Part Time)
The driver is responsible for providing safe/timely transportation for the residents of BeeHive Homes. This person must convey a positive image of the facility and must have a genuine caring interest in working with residents of BeeHive Homes. The driver must, within the individual’s area of focus, assure compliance with BeeHive Homes quality standards, State and Federal regulations. The individual must be highly organized and posses outstanding interpersonal skills with a high level of energy and enthusiasm. The driver works closely with house team leaders and office manager to ensure operational performance, quality of service, and competitiveness with other area facilities. The driver must be a firm decision-maker, taking into consideration the impact of his/her decision on the overall organization.
Essential Functions
The driver reports to Administrator/Owner. The driver is responsible for carrying out the primary duties as outlined by the Administrator/Owner of BeeHive Homes. These essential functions include, but are not limited to:
· Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations in dealing with team members, residents, resident’s families, visitors and coworkers in a professional/confidential manner.
· Initiate and participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities based on the four components of quality: customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, process/system refinement and financial impact.
· Demonstrate the ability to embrace and project the values of the facility: safety, trust, respect, teamwork, partnership, service, compassion, integrity, efficiency and financial responsibility.
· Communicate accurate and pertinent information to facilitate effective and efficient resident care.
· Provide informative written and oral correspondence.
· Apply problem solving and conflict resolution skills where needed.
· Work to establish a group culture to enable BeeHive Homes to function as a whole.
Duties
The driver is expected to perform other position related duties that include, but are not limited to:
Residents:
· Be patient and kind in communicating with passengers and be readily available to physically assist residents entering and exiting the vehicle as well as securely entering and exiting the building at their destination.
· Expected to know as well as perform first aid, to include the “Upper thrust” technique.
· Must be well versed in the policies and procedures set forth by BeeHive Homes.
· Assist residents in the use of safety devices, (safety/lap belt, tie downs, etc.)
· Ambulate and transfer residents, utilizing appropriate assistive devices and body mechanics.
· Maintain accurate record(s) of transportation log.
· Be able to occasionally work past scheduled shift to ensure safe return of resident to BeeHive.
Maintenance:
· Check and document safety devices on a monthly basis.
· Check overall condition of the vehicle to include, but not limited to: tire pressure, all fluids, all lights, back up alarm, mirrors, doors, gauges, lift and door locks.
· Maintain accurate logs and records of required maintenance of vehicle.
· Keep vehicle generally clean in/out.
Regulatory and Legal:
· Comply with facility’s policies and procedures and recommend changes as necessary.
· Bring to the attention of the Owner/Administrator any deficiencies that may arise.
· Ensure compliance to policies relating to blood-borne pathogens, hazard communication and infection control.
· Ensure compliance with respect to risk management: death, the dying and the aging process, fire safety, disaster preparedness, resident’s rights and grievance procedures.
· MVR annual update.
· Never use personal electronics, cells phones, tablets, etc. while driving. Hand free cell phones only!
Job Specifications
Essential Qualifications
Education/Certification
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Clean MVR history: No moving violations in the last 36 months, no chargeable accidents in the last 36 months, no major convictions (driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless driving, or legally hazardous activity, etc.) within the past seven years or conviction of alcohol related offense(s) or major traffic violation(s).
· Minimum driving experience of five years.
· No previous felony conviction.
· Valid Montana drivers license
Skills/Abilities
· Knowledge of the assisted living care industry.
· Decisive, well-informed, decision-maker.
· Ability to communicate effectively with different types of people.
· Ability to calmly handle stressful situations.
· Demonstrate organizational capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
· Knowledge of surrounding area.
· Knowledge of vehicle maintenance/operation.
· First aid certification.
· Upper Thrust certification.
Position Environment
This position requires the ability to work with a diverse group of individuals. Physical demands include varied sitting, standing, bending, reaching, lifting and walking. Lifting, on a regular basis, up to 25lbs is required. Requires a full range of body motion including manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Requires hearing to normal range and corrected vision. Occasional stress related to a fast-paced environment and multiple responsibilities.
