What We Are Looking For:
Panama City Housing Authority is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our team. This full-time position plays a critical role in maintaining safe, sanitary, and well-functioning housing for our residents. The ideal candidate will have experience in building maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and general repair work.
We're looking for someone who is safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering quality workmanship. The right candidate will take pride in their work, have strong problem-solving skills, and be able to interact professionally with residents, vendors, and coworkers. In this role, you will:
- Perform general maintenance and repair work in occupied and vacant housing units.
- Repair and replace doors, cabinets, window frames, flooring, roofing materials, and other structures.
- Install and maintain plumbing, HVAC systems, electrical components, appliances, and fixtures.
- Respond to work orders and emergency calls in a timely and professional manner.
- Renovate vacant units to prepare for new tenants, ensuring compliance with housing standards.
- Maintain tools, materials, and supplies in good working condition.
- Follow safety regulations and Housing Authority policies in all assigned work.
- Assist with cleaning and upkeep of common areas and building exteriors.
- Support inspections, documentation, and compliance with HUD and local building codes.
What You Need:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; certifications or training in maintenance or construction fields are a plus.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in general maintenance trades including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and painting.
- Familiarity with HUD housing quality standards and EPA lead paint regulations is preferred.
- Basic computer skills and comfort using software to track work orders and inventory.
- Valid Florida driver’s license required with the ability to travel between properties.
- Ability to work independently and with a team while maintaining professionalism and efficiency.
- Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds and perform physical tasks, including walking, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
- Completion of Fair Housing training and other required courses within 90 days of hire.
