Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Barista Shift Leader to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations during your shift, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining a high standard of food safety and quality. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coffee, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage a fast-paced café environment.
Duties
- Lead and motivate the barista team to deliver outstanding customer service and maintain a positive work environment.
- Operate Toast POS system for efficient order processing and cash handling.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and proper food handling practices during all food preparation and service.
- Train new staff on coffee preparation techniques, customer service standards, and café operations.
- Manage inventory levels, placing orders as necessary to maintain stock of coffee beans, supplies, and other products.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues that arise during your shift with professionalism and care.
- Monitor sales performance and assist in achieving store sales goals through effective upselling techniques.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, including equipment maintenance and sanitation practices.
Qualifications
- Previous barista experience preferred, with a strong knowledge of coffee preparation methods.
- Experience in the food industry or food service is preferred, with an understanding of food safety standards.
- Proficiency in using POS systems such as Toast is highly desirable.
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively in a busy environment.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with customers and team members alike.
- Basic math skills for accurate cash handling and retail math calculations.
