The SPCA of Northern Nevada is looking for an Animal Adoption Counselor.
Our Adoption Counselors are integral members of the SPCA of Northern Nevada team who directly support our life-saving mission! We are looking for an exceptional communicator who is positive, community-oriented, fun-loving, and motivated to match adopters with their next best friend. What You’ll Do:
· Provide exceptional customer service to each community member who walks through our doors.
· Represent SPCA-NN and animal welfare in a professional, compassionate, and kind manner.
· Make loving matches between our adoptable pets and our customers through a curious conversation-based adoptions process.
· Take photos of our adoptable pets.
· Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, scanning, tracking and returning phone calls.
· Assist our animal care department with daily animal husbandry and enrichment.
· We will train you on how to counsel the public and adopters according to the “Adopters Welcome” philosophy, joyfully answer phones, complete intake/outcome paperwork, track data like a boss, foster teamwork, enrich our animals lives (so much fun), promote donations, and provide the best service to our community.

· Attention to detail. Our animals rely on us to follow specific protocols exactly for their health and safety.
· Spanish/English bilingual would be a HUGE plus!

- This position requires standing/walking for long periods of time, at times on concrete; repetitive use of both hands, visual acuity, bending, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs unassisted), reaching, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, grasping, reading and writing both simple and complex material. Work is performed in an animal shelter with moderate lighting and temperature, at times outdoors in varying weather conditions. At times in confined areas. Work is performed with cats and dogs, with other humans both face-to-face and virtually. Can you perform these essential functions as described with or without accommodations?
- This is a full-time position including four ten-hour shifts with three days off. The schedule will require at least one weekend day, though availability on both Saturday and Sunday would be a plus. Can you work within the schedule as described? Please note any days/times you are unavailable.

- The pay for Adoption Counselor starts at $19-20/hour, DOE. We offer 56 hours of annual sick time after 90 days, 12 paid holidays, and benefit eligibility after 60 days.
