Job Description
The Reconstruction Handyman / Carpenter is responsible for performing a wide variety of repair and rebuild work on residential and commercial properties that have experienced water, fire, mold, or other damage. This role focuses on turning damaged spaces back into fully functional, high-quality finished areas.
You will take a scope of work, walk the property with the Project Manager, and complete the necessary repairs and reconstruction. While the primary focus is post-mitigation reconstruction and finish work, this position is versatile and may include some mitigation support, general handyman tasks, and small repairs as needed. Ideal candidates are skilled, reliable tradespeople who enjoy a mix of carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, trim work, and general property restoration.
Job Requirements:
- Review scopes of work and walk properties with the Project Manager to plan and complete repairs/rebuilds.
- Perform a variety of reconstruction and handyman tasks including: drywall repair & finishing, framing repairs, flooring installation/repair, trim work, painting, minor plumbing and electrical repairs (within scope), and general finish carpentry.
- Execute work according to industry standards and RestoPros quality expectations.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship while working efficiently.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, Project Managers, and team members.
- Keep every job site clean and orderly.
- Document work progress with photos and company software.
- Assist with water, fire, or mold mitigation when needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked truck and equipment.
- High School diploma or GED required.
Qualifications:
- Solid experience as a handyman, general carpenter, or in residential repair/reconstruction.
- Strong all-around construction and repair skills (drywall, carpentry, painting, flooring, etc.).
- Ability to handle a variety of tasks and solve problems on the job.
- Excellent customer service skills and a commitment to clear communication.
- Positive attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic.
- Growth mindset — eager to grow with a rapidly expanding company.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience using common construction and hand tools.
- Comfortable with basic documentation and photo records.
- Reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
- Willing to undergo background check and drug screen.
- Ready to work overtime when needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to regularly lift a minimum of 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Comfortable climbing ladders, working at heights, and working in tight spaces.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, and work for extended periods.
Experience:
- Handyman / General Repair: 1–2+ years (Preferred)
- Carpentry or construction: 1+ year (Preferred)
- Restoration industry experience a plus
License/Certification:
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (Required)
- Any trade certifications (Preferred)
