The Baker and the Cakemaker is a locally owned artisan bread bakery making fresh artisan breads available at area grocery stores, farmers markets, and restaurants. We are committed to promoting from within, from entry level up to management.
We are growing and looking for a full time overnight bread baker! 5 days a week Mon-Fri overnights until midnight or 2AM depending on the shift, with every weekend off.
This is a physically demanding job. We bake the old fashioned way, meaning that you will be working a commercial deck oven throughout the night. In addition to baking bread, the candidate will perform cleanup duties (working the dishwasher) and occasionally help out with dough shaping ahead of the bake. Quality control is paramount, and it is expected that the candidate will monitor quality and communicate with management as changes need to be made (e.g. bread proofing too slow / too fast, raw dough loaves misshapen, etc.).
The proper candidate for this role will share our enthusiasm for creating high quality products for our community to enjoy, and will be committed to our culture of teamwork, creativity, and love of good bread! This position is key part of a small production team. A verifiable record of dependable performance and attendance is required. We will check employer references!
