Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Endoscopy Registered Nurse, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care within our specialized endoscopy suite. Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for endoscopic procedures by explaining the process, obtaining consent, and ensuring proper positioning.
- Assist physicians during procedures by managing equipment, monitoring patient vitals, and maintaining aseptic technique throughout interventions.
- Administer medications including sedation agents under physician supervision, ensuring safe dosing and patient monitoring in compliance with hospital protocols.
- Monitor patient responses during procedures, recognize signs of distress or adverse reactions, and respond promptly to ensure safety.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, including vital signs, medication administration, and procedural notes.
- Provide post-procedure care instructions to patients and their families, including discharge planning and follow-up recommendations.
- Maintain sterile field and ensure all endoscopic equipment is properly sterilized, functioning correctly, and ready for use in accordance with infection control standards.
Qualifications
- Valid nursing license (RN) with current registration in the state of practice.
- Proven experience in endoscopy nursing or related fields such as gastroenterology, surgical nursing, or critical care settings.
- Familiarity with advanced medical procedures including sedation management, biopsy techniques, and specimen collection.
- Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation.
- Strong understanding of aseptic technique, infection control protocols, and patient safety standards.
- Experience with medical imaging modalities such as fluoroscopy or ultrasound is a plus.
