RSI is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) to provide nursing support to individuals with developmental, physical, and mental health needs. RSI provides services to adults and children in foster care homes throughout Duluth, East Central Minnesota, and Northern St. Louis County. This position will also provide backup nursing support to Lotus Grace, RSI’s 24/7 Residential Crisis Stabilization (RCS) and Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) program in Cambridge, MN, including occasional on-site support as needed.
Schedule and Travel
The typical schedule is Monday through Friday during business hours, with flexibility to meet program and individual support needs. Regularly scheduled weekend and holiday shifts are not required. The position participates in a rotating after-hours telephone nursing on-call schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Additional compensation is provided for on-call responsibilities.
This position offers a combination of remote work and on-site support at RSI programs. On-site travel to programs throughout Duluth and East Central Minnesota will be required based on program and individual needs. Mileage reimbursement is available for work-related travel.
Salary: $70,000-75,000 annually

Key Job Duties:
- Complete nursing assessments for individuals upon admission and develop individualized medical care plans.
- Monitor and support individuals' physical and mental health needs, identify changes in condition, and coordinate appropriate medical follow-up.
- Provide medication oversight, including delegation, training, monitoring, and accurate documentation of medication administration.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to program staff regarding medication administration, individualized health needs, and nursing procedures.
- Monitor compliance with health care plans, nursing standards, and applicable regulations, and provide follow-up when concerns are identified.
- Oversee medical records, health-related documentation, and coordination of medical appointments.
- Coordinate the ordering, storage, and availability of medications, medical supplies, and equipment.
- Maintain knowledge of and compliance with applicable Minnesota statutes, rules, licensing requirements, and nursing standards.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate Infection Control Plans and ensure compliance with OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen standards.
- Participate in a rotating after-hours telephone nursing on-call schedule, with additional compensation provided.
- Travel to RSI programs as needed to provide on-site nursing support and participate in staff training and meetings
For this position, you will need:
- Current, unrestricted Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Valid driver's license with no restrictions and reliable transportation for work-related travel.
- Ability to travel between RSI programs as needed.
- Ability to pass a post-offer background check and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
You will also need to meet one of the following Mental Health Practitioner qualification requirements:
- Have at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or related field and 2000 hours of experience with individuals with mental illness, substance use disorder, traumatic brain injury, or developmental disabilities; or
- Have at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or related field and have completed a practicum or internship that focused on behavioral sciences or related field that required direct interaction with individuals served; or
- Have 4000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to individuals with mental illness, substance use disorder, traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities; or
- Have 2000 hours of experience providing services to individuals with mental illness, substance use disorder, traumatic brain injury, or developmental disabilities and receive treatment supervision at least once per week until obtaining 4000 hours of experience; or
- Have a master's or other graduate degree in a behavioral sciences or related field.
Preferred qualifications:
- Two or more years of nursing experience.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental, physical, or mental health disabilities.
- Experience in residential, community-based, behavioral health, or long-term care settings.
