Job Description
Position Summary
The Lead Toddler Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom for children ages approximately 15 months to 3 years. This role leads the classroom team, models best teaching practices, supports assistant teachers, and partners closely with families to promote each child's growth and well-being.

Essential ResponsibilitiesClassroom Leadership
- Lead the daily operation of the toddler classroom.
- Establish a warm, respectful, and welcoming classroom culture.
- Supervise and support Assistant Teachers and classroom aides.
- Delegate responsibilities appropriately while maintaining accountability.
- Model professionalism, teamwork, and positive communication.
- Maintain appropriate child-to-teacher ratios at all times.
Child Development & Curriculum
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
- Prepare engaging classroom environments that encourage independence and exploration.
- Incorporate Montessori-inspired materials and practices into daily routines.
- Support children's cognitive, language, social-emotional, physical, and self-help development.
- Observe children's interests and adapt activities to meet individual developmental needs.
- Foster positive guidance using respectful, age-appropriate behavior management techniques.
Health & Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Follow all EEC regulations and Kith Corner health and safety policies.
- Complete diapering, toileting, handwashing, and sanitation procedures according to licensing requirements.
- Conduct daily health observations.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and complete required incident reports.
- Ensure children are actively supervised at all times.
Family Communication
- Build trusting relationships with families.
- Greet families warmly each day.
- Share meaningful updates regarding children's development and daily experiences.
- Maintain accurate daily reports through Playground.
- Communicate concerns professionally and promptly to the Center Director.
- Participate in family conferences as requested.
Documentation & Assessment
- Complete ongoing child observations.
- Maintain developmental records.
- Prepare documentation for parent conferences.
- Participate in assessment and curriculum planning.
- Ensure classroom records remain accurate and confidential.
Classroom Environment
- Maintain an organized, inviting, and beautiful learning environment.
- Rotate materials regularly to encourage curiosity.
- Ensure shelves and materials remain complete, clean, and accessible.
- Display children's work respectfully.
- Care for classroom materials and report replacement needs.
Team Collaboration
- Collaborate positively with fellow teachers and specialists.
- Mentor new staff members and assistant teachers.
- Participate actively in staff meetings and professional development.
- Accept coaching and implement feedback constructively.
- Support other classrooms when needed.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Complete required paperwork accurately and on time.
- Maintain attendance records.
- Submit lesson plans according to center expectations.
- Assist with classroom inventory and supply requests.
- Report maintenance or safety concerns immediately.
QualificationsRequired
- EEC Lead Teacher Certification (Toddler)
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with toddlers
- Strong understanding of child development
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- CPR & First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to pass required background checks
Preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Experience mentoring or supervising teaching staff
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Chinese) is a plus

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
