Job Summary: 12 Hour Shifts
The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of company property, clients, employees, and visitors during assigned shifts. This position requires a valid drivers license and good driving record is a required. Continuous attentiveness, professionalism, and the physical ability to stay on foot for extended periods while performing patrols and monitoring access points. Security Officers must be prepared to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, remain calm under pressure, and respond quickly and effectively to any incidents or emergencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas on foot or in vehicle.
- Monitor surveillance cameras, access points, and alarm systems.
- Enforce company and client-specific security policies and procedures.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, disturbances, or suspicious activity.
- Maintain detailed logs, incident reports, and daily activity documentation.
- Provide access control and ensure only authorized personnel enter restricted areas.
- Assist with loss prevention and hazard identification.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, clients, law enforcement, and emergency responders.
- Maintain a professional demeanor while interacting with the public and staff.
- Follow company safety policies and participate in site-specific safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Valid California Guard Card (required).
- Strong observational, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to remain calm and act decisively under stress.
- Familiarity with security monitoring systems and basic first aid is preferred.
- Must possess valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.
- Must pass company background check and any client-specific clearance requirements. Physical Requirements
- Standard shifts are up to 12 hours (day or night), including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Requires being on feet for 8+ hours of the shift, with limited opportunities for seated rest depending on post assignment.
- Ability to walk patrols covering large areas, climb stairs, and quickly respond to emergencies.
Strength & Stamina:
- Lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 35 lbs.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as required during patrols and inspections.
- Ability to escort individuals if safety is required.
- Work performed in indoor and outdoor settings, including exposure to heat, cold, wind, rain, and other weather conditions.
- Maintain focus and situational awareness for extended periods, often in low-stimulation environments.
Work Environment
- Assigned to client facilities including offices, warehouses, plants, or outdoor job sites.
- Requires standing, walking, and patrolling for the majority of the shift.
- May be assigned to high-traffic or isolated posts requiring extended vigilance.
- Must be able to respond to emergencies promptly in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Pay: $18.75 - $21.50 per hour
