Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Licensed Art Therapist (Itinerant) to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this role, you will provide specialized art therapy services to diverse populations in Frederick County MD, including children, and adolescents with various mental health and neurodevelopmental needs. As an itinerant therapist, you will travel between multiple schools, and online to deliver engaging, therapeutic art interventions that foster emotional expression, resilience, and recovery. Your expertise in behavioral therapy, art therapy techniques, and client-centered care will help empower School-Aged, and High School students on their healing journey while promoting holistic well-being.
Duties
- Conduct individual art therapy sessions tailored to each student’s unique needs, including those with autism, developmental disabilities, chronic illnesses, or in hospice care.
- Develop personalized treatment plans integrating behavioral health principles and evidence-based art therapy practices.
- Facilitate art therapy activities that encourage social interaction, emotional regulation, and self-awareness geared to each student assigned within the Frederick County Public School System.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and recordkeeping in compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, social workers, medical professionals, and caregivers to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Engage assigned students through creative modalities, such as recreational therapy when appropriate to enhance therapeutic outcomes.
- Ensure all interactions adhere to confidentiality standards while fostering a safe and supportive environment for expression.
Qualifications
- Active Maryland Licensed Art Therapist(LAT).
- Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, neurodevelopmental disorders, or chronic illnesses.
- Strong knowledge of behavioral therapy techniques working with school-aged and high school students in Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS).
- Experience facilitating art therapy for children and adolescents remotely or in-person.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students of varying ages and backgrounds while demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical records management and client confidentiality.
