SUMMARY
The B&R Utility is responsible for performing all B&R Operator functions and duties in the absence of regular B&R Operator. Additionally, the B&R Utility will be responsible for the fire system and maintenance activities for the B&R Department. When operator functions are not required, the B&R Utility is responsible for maintenance functions within the B&R department, including installation, repair, troubleshooting, daily PM’s, and repair procedures. The B&R Utility will help train those in the department on the refrigeration, boiler systems, and fire system. The B&R Utility will also be assigned project work within the B&R department as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Must work variable shifts as scheduled to relieve B&R Operators and achieve maintenance of fire systems and/or other maintenance activities within the B&R Department.

Performs PM and maintenance work as needed or directed by the B&R Supervisor to repair and adjust fire equipment, including but not limited to changing and replacing sprinkler heads, replacing piping, inspecting extinguishers, administering flow tests, completing riser inspections, and maintaining and repairing motors, fire pumps, etc. while following proper safety practices.

Successfully complete fire system impairments, comply with all fire protection inspection requirements, including quarterly and yearly fire system checks and corresponding paperwork.

Assist with daily B&R workload while carrying out instructions for the replacement of faulty mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical components of machines and equipment related to this position.

Understand testing procedures on boilers, water softeners, RO unit, condensers, refrigeration, and ensures proper reports and records are developed.

Work in a safe manner and utilizes personal protective equipment and observes safety policies, such as Lock Out/Tag Out procedures to ensure personal safety.

Document work and PMs, generate work orders in the computerized maintenance system (CMMS) detailing the events of the day and logging information about machine condition.

Operate and maintain required license for forklift and scissor-lift.

Own proper tools for the job as specified by the company.

Perform PM and maintenance work as needed or directed by the B&R Supervisor to repair and adjust B&R equipment, including changing and replacing belts, sprockets, bearings, chains, motors, pumps, etc. while following proper safety practices.

Capable of operating all machines and equipment and able to perform installation of conveyors, fans, piping, and related B&R equipment and components.

Diagnosis of malfunctioning apparatus such as igniter and systems, gearboxes, motors, and shaft bearings, and replacement of damaged or broken components.

Use technical tools and instruments to operate, repair, and adjust the boiler and ammonia refrigeration.

Extensive knowledge in the repair of boiler and ammonia refrigeration systems.

Capable and knowledgeable in the process of fabricating small jobs, taking dimensions, layout design, able to cut and shear pieces, maintain square and weld joints and seams, and maintaining square while avoiding buckling of panels.

Ability to weld and install pipe.

Participates in training for the department in areas such as pump repair, bearing replacement, gear drive repair, boiler/refrigeration operations and repairs.

Understands testing procedures on boilers and refrigeration and ensures proper reports and records are developed.

Assist in training plant personnel on the B&R equipment, fire systems, and there functions.

Assist with all fire system checks that are required by the company to maintain the fire systems, and participate in audits on the fire system as necessary.

Perform basic electrical work on electrical panels and fire systems related electrical to B&R.

Capable of most welding functions, including Stick, Tig, and Mig.

Attend and participate in all annual departmental and job specific required training and monthly informational meetings.

Communicates any problems or changes in working environment to appropriate personnel.

Understands and adheres to the concepts and techniques of the quality process in order to ensure a quality operation.

Keeps work area clean and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and according to the principles of 5S.

Performs assigned tasks in a manner that does not endanger the environment and adheres to company and regulatory standards.

Promotes and adheres to company safety regulations.

Active involvement in Behavioral Observation Safety (BOS) and RADAR program.

Wears appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.

Helps to build and promote a strong “Teamwork” environment in each individual work group, the factory, and the company.

Actively participates in the continuous improvement process.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Four years related experience and/or training in boilers, refrigeration, and related department systems; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must provide documentation of experience in related field. Must demonstrate knowledge by passing ammonia and refrigeration job skills test. Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude with a passing score on the mechanical job skills test.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals to select appropriate information, identify basic concepts, relevant details, facts, and specifications to follow instructions. Ability to write information-recording data accurately and completely on forms/surveys/computer text entries and prepare messages or simple documents. Ability to speak effectively to express appropriate verbal/nonverbal messages, explain concepts, and actively participate in discussion.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to perform calculations, percentages, area, circumference, volume and math operations of addition, subtraction. Understand and work with fractions and decimals to make settings, select machine drive components and correctly size tools. Ability to apply math concepts to basic fabrication tasks, record numerical data, obtain data, perform measurements, and interpret numerical data. Basic algebra and geometry exercised.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense to identify facts and principles, identify problems, apply rules/principles to process procedures, extract information/data, and use logic to draw conclusions.
Compensation Package: - Starting at 34.32 USD hourly + Bonus eligibility + Hourly Pay Differential for applicable shifts
