Duties
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, including IV infusions and other sterile preparations.
- Manage medication intake processes, verifying prescriptions and ensuring proper documentation.
- Assist with patient service by providing medication information and answering questions related to drug therapies.
- Maintain precise inventory control of pharmaceuticals, including storage, labeling, and expiration tracking.
- Follow strict aseptic techniques during medication preparation to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
- Support hospital staff with medication administration tasks, ensuring compliance with medical terminology and hospital protocols.
- Document all activities meticulously in accordance with regulatory standards and hospital policies.
Skills
- Proven pharmacy technician experience with a strong understanding of medical terminology and medication management.
- Critical care experience or LTC pharmacy background is highly desirable for handling specialized medications.
- Knowledge of aseptic technique, IV infusion procedures, and hospital pharmacy operations.
- Excellent patient service skills with a focus on patient care and communication.
- Ability to work efficiently in acute care environments while maintaining accuracy under pressure.
- Familiarity with intake procedures, medication administration protocols, and documentation standards.
