Tool and Die Machinist Allied Rivet – Geneva, IL
Job Summary Allied Rivet is a family-run business that has been a staple in the precision manufacturing industry since 1969. We are looking for a skilled Tool and Die Machinist to support our cold heading production department by producing, maintaining, and supplying tooling and machine parts for our cold headers. This role is essential for keeping downtime to a minimum and ensuring that all tooling complies with company accepted prints and quality standards. Pay Range: $30.00 -$36.00 Experience dependent.
Shift Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Minimum 8-hour shift plus ½ hour unpaid break) Pre-Employment Drug Screen Required

Key Responsibilities
- Tooling & Part Manufacturing: Produce and repair tooling and machine parts using equipment such as saws, lathes, mills, grinders, hones, presses, and EDMs.
- Machine Operation: Setup, write, and edit programs on CNC machines, including HAAS TL1 Lathe, Milltronics Mill, and Mitsubishi Sinker EDM. Operate manual machines such as Bridgeport Mill, Hardinge DV59 Lathe, Chevalier Surface Grinders, and Sunnen Honing Machine.
- Inventory Management: Perform physical inventories at intervals no greater than 2 weeks to maintain proper stock levels for all tooling, machine parts, and necessary supplies.
- Blueprint & Quality Control: Develop clear, concise, and detailed new prints for tooling, or update existing prints as needed, ensuring prior and final approval from department heads. Verify that results meet acceptable quality standards through in-process and post-process inspections using proper measuring instruments.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work directly with office personnel on prints for new jobs, and coordinate with production and maintenance personnel to resolve tooling or machine part issues efficiently.
- Facility & Equipment Standards: Perform routine preventative maintenance on tool room equipment. Keep all machinery and surrounding areas clean, safe, and free of machining chips, coolant, and oil drips.
Qualifications & Needs
- Machining Expertise: Experience with manual machining, CNC, and working with various grades of tool steels, alloys, and carbide is required. Machining certifications and tool and die experience are preferred.
- Precision Skills: Must be proficient in mathematics and have the ability to work and measure within .0005 tolerances.
- Independence & Organization: Proven ability to work independently, schedule your own time and workload, and carry out assignments to completion in a timely manner.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary to effectively interact with coworkers and vendors.
- Technical Literacy: Proficient computer skills, with an emphasis on Microsoft formats, to maintain paperwork pertinent to toolroom responsibilities. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

- Physical Stamina: Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods and safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Safety & Compliance: Must maintain compliance with all company policies, industry standards, and OSHA-recognized safety practices.
- Communication: Must be able to communicate competently with coworkers, vendors, and subcontractors in person, on the telephone, and/or in email.
- Reliability: A high level of punctuality and regular attendance is required.
