Yard Manager
Rocky Ridge is seeking a dependable, customer-focused Yard Manager to oversee daily yard operations. This hands-on role is responsible for safely loading materials, operating heavy equipment, managing inventory, and ensuring an organized, efficient, and safe yard.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, loaders, and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Load trucks, trailers, and customer vehicles with block, pavers, rock, and other landscape materials
- Manage inventory and keep the yard organized, well-stocked, and free of clutter
- Optimize vehicle and material flow within the yard
- Inspect and perform basic maintenance on equipment; report repair needs promptly
- Coordinate deliveries and shipments, ensuring timely, accurate scheduling and tracking
- Enforce safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Supervise, train, and manage performance of yard staff
- Provide excellent customer service — assist with product selection, loading, and questions; serve as point of contact for customers and drivers
- Maintain records of yard performance and incidents
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and support sustainability initiatives (recycling, energy efficiency, waste reduction)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience operating forklifts, loaders, or similar heavy equipment
- Strong organizational and inventory management skills
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment maintenance
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Leadership experience managing people, equipment, and logistics in a fast-paced yard environment
- Ability to work outdoors and safely lift 50+ pounds
