Program Summary The Mariposa Program, operated by the Napa County Office of Education, is seeking compassionate and community-minded AmeriCorps Members to serve as Mariposa Coaches for the 2026–2027 school year. Members will play an integral role in supporting youth development, mentoring, and cultural enrichment across local school sites throughout Napa County. Key Responsibilities & Member Service Activities Youth Mentorship & Student Support: Positive Role Modeling: Serve as a consistent, caring adult role model and mentor for diverse youth populations across assigned school sites. Social-Emotional Development: Support students in building self-confidence, interpersonal communication, leadership skills, emotional resilience, and healthy peer relationships. School Connectedness: Actively foster student engagement and a sense of belonging through intentional relationship-building and inclusive programming. Group Facilitation: Lead and assist with small-group activities, restorative student-centered discussions, and student leadership opportunities. Cultural Enrichment & Community Engagement: Mariposa Programming: Implement prevention education, leadership activities, and youth engagement initiatives central to the Mariposa mission. Arts & Culture Support: Coordinate and assist with youth participation in regional Ballet Folklórico programming, heritage events, and cultural celebrations. Family & Community Inclusion: Help establish welcoming, identity-affirming environments for students and families; assist with school-wide events, community gatherings, and student performances. Professional Development & Member Growth: Training & Coaching: Participate in ongoing professional development, cohort-based team training, and mentorship from program leadership. Career Pathways: Gain hands-on experience in youth mentorship, social-emotional learning (SEL), and community public service.
