Overview
We are looking for a unique person to join our team who is excited about creating an exceptional hospitality experience for our guests. They must be passionate about good, honest food & beverage, love engaging with people and care about fostering community.
As the first person customers engage with at the café, this individual will play a vital role as the greeter and anchor of Lupine, requiring them to balance a gregarious demeanor with effectively completing a multitude of tasks.
As a Barista, you will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of beverages while providing outstanding customer service in a fast-paced café environment. Your expertise in coffee preparation and your ability to connect with customers will play a vital role in enhancing their experience at Lupine Café.
The cafe is open Tuesday-Saturday, 7am-4pm (currently) and serves breakfast & lunch, espresso drinks, as well as wine & beer. Starting in June, we will be opening on Sundays as well. Currently, we are looking for someone who is available Friday-Sunday.
**Be aware that you need to be available for weekends and holidays!**
Duties
- Greet guests in a welcoming and engaging manner.
- Prepare and serve high-quality coffee beverages, teas, and other menu items according to established recipes and standards.
- Operate the Square POS systems efficiently for order processing and payment transactions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, ensuring compliance with food safety and handling regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service by engaging with customers, taking orders accurately, and addressing any inquiries or concerns.
- Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure timely service without compromising quality.
- Handle cash transactions accurately, ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed.
- Maintain knowledge of menu items to make informed recommendations to customers.
- Collaborate with team members to create a positive work environment that fosters teamwork and communication.
Qualifications
- Excellent customer service skills with the drive to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
- Previous experience in the food service industry is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Square POS systems is a plus.
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and retail math applications.
- Time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively during peak hours.
- A current Food Handler's Permit
- MAST Permit (to serve alcohol)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
