The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel-powered vehicles and equipment, including trucks, forklifts, trailers, mini-excavators, backhoes, Rollers, Etc. Their main duties include running diagnostic tests using electronic equipment or manual methods to identify issues, performing necessary repairs, including but not limited to replacing the vehicle's engine, transmission, steering mechanism, or braking system, and test-driving the vehicle to determine whether the maintenance issue has been properly fixed.
Duties/Responsibilities:

Inspect and repair vehicles with diesel engines and Machinery
-
Handles routine repairs, including oil and tire changes, break checks, and alignments.

Interprets diagnostic test results accurately
-
Record inspection reports and repair plans
-
Collaborate with other diesel mechanics
-
Complete test drives to make sure the vehicle runs correctly
-
Uses power, machine, and hand tools safely
-
Follow all motor vehicle repair shop regulations and standards

Travel to and from jobsites to perform diagnostic and repairs.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Advanced knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system and the mechanisms of a diesel engine

In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms

Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment
-
Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools

Excellent problem-solving skills

Keen attention to detail

Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics

Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software

A valid driver’s license

Good interpersonal skills

Effective collaboration and communication skills

Education and experience:

High school diploma
-
ASE certification or equivalent trade school training preferred.

At least 1.5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic.
Physical requirements:

The position requires the employee to stand, walk, bend, manipulate objects, reach outward and reach above the head and shoulders, climb, descend, squat, kneel, bend, and occasionally lift/push/pull/drag on flat ground or steep slopes up to 80 pounds.

The employee must have excellent endurance and work endurance.

The work is both indoors & outdoors. Working conditions range from very cold to high temperatures, strong winds, flying dust, hazards, and slipping conditions, and are frequently exposed to loud noises from heavy machinery.
