Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection prevention management protocols.
- Assist dentists chairside using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays a using advanced medical imaging technology while adhering to dental x-ray safety standards.
- Manage patient records efficiently using electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
- Collect vital signs and medical history information from patients to support comprehensive care plans.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures to promote long-term dental health.
- Coordinate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and handle administrative tasks using patient management software.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including dental instrument processing, infection control, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures.
- Familiarity with dental terminology, medical documentation, and medical coding practices.
- Experience operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines, intraoral cameras, and 3D scanners.
- Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention policies and clinical confidentiality policies aligned with HIPAA standards.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics when applicable.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail and clinical accuracy.
