Summary of Responsibilities: A Distribution Center Associate assists will all activities associated with picking, receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing, processing, and shipping materials for food distributions.
Duties/Essential Functions:
- Uphold Mission, Vision and Values of Forgotten Harvest

Moving product using forklifts or other moving equipment within a warehouse. Safely load, unload, store or retrieve items from storage.

Utilize conscientious and safe handling protocols of all warehouse material handling equipment including pallet jacks, hand dollies and forklift in order to avoid personal injury to self, others and damage to product, equipment or facility.

Accurately accounts for all products received; completes receiving forms for inventory documentation

Inspects incoming product to ensure products for accuracy of Bill of Lading, container markings or damage, dates, temperature requirements and pest/contamination in accordance with Forgotten Harvest food safety policies

Accurately, efficiently, and safely stores items on racks, shelves, bins or refrigerated rooms/freezers according to product type, size, expiration date or product code.

Prepare and organize items for shipment

Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area at all times including warehouse, grounds, bins, and equipment. Sweep, mop, and scrub surfaces as needed according to food safety policies and procedures.
- Keeps walk areas and exits clear; locks and secures equipment and facility as required; notifies manager of problems in need of repairs immediately.
- Demonstrates professionalism and speaks respectfully when interacting with staff, volunteers, and the public.
- Handling and storage of all non-food related items such as pallets, storage bins, milk crates, etc.,
- Remain knowledgeable of current inventory and inventory levels. Performs monthly inventory count, as instructed, by physically counting and accurately recording product quantity and type, notifying manager immediately of discrepancies or problems.

Train volunteers on best practice repack processes in a manner that creates safe effective and engaging environment

Work with other team members to assist volunteers

Maintain accurate inventory documentation and submit information to Distribution Center Manager daily

Coordinate with Distribution Center Manager and staff on effective product flow in and out of coolers to be repacked. Assist with warehouse product staging to optimize repack set up.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.

Experience with Microsoft Excel and Outlook

Licensed forklift operator or will train.
- Must attain SERV Safe Certification within 90 days of hire.

Must demonstrate commitment to safety.
- Strong communication skills and comfortable speaking to large volunteer groups.

Ability to interact effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and personalities.
- Previous experience in a food/warehouse environment preferred.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in ambient temperature, cooler, and frozen sections of the warehouse, working at temperatures as low as -10°F for periods of your shift (PPE provided).

Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb 6-8 hours per day
- Ability to lift 60 pounds repeatedly
