Job Description
The Propulsion Technician supports the assembly, installation, and maintenance of propulsion and fluid systems used in aerospace test, launch, and ground support operations. This role requires hands-on experience working with precision tubing, pneumatic systems, and high-pressure fluid components in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment. Technicians will work closely with engineers, welders, and other skilled trades to ensure systems are built and maintained to exact specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate, bend, and install precision tubing (stainless steel, aluminum, and/or Inconel) to tight tolerances
- Build, assemble, and troubleshoot pneumatic panels, including valves, regulators, gauges, manifolds, and fittings
- Install and maintain pneumatic, hydraulic, and propellant support systems
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and build instructions
- Perform tubing layout, measurement, cutting, deburring, flaring, and bending using hand and machine tools
- Support pressure testing, leak checks, and system commissioning
- Assist with system modifications, repairs, and upgrades during active operations
- Follow all safety, quality, and documentation procedures, including clean build practices
- Coordinate with engineering and quality teams to resolve fitment or system issues
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in compliance with safety standards
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Propulsion Technician, Aerospace Technician, Mechanical Technician, or similar role
- Demonstrated experience with tube bending (manual and/or CNC) for precision fluid systems
- Hands-on experience building pneumatic panels from schematics or drawings
- Experience working with high-pressure gas systems and fittings (Swagelok or equivalent)
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, schematics, and technical drawings
- Comfortable working extended hours and overtime for project duration
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace, launch site, test stand, or propulsion system experience
- Familiarity with clean room or contamination-controlled environments
- Experience with leak detection methods (helium, nitrogen, soap bubble testing, etc.)
- OSHA 10/30 or equivalent safety training
- Forklift, manlift, or overhead crane experience
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to stand, kneel, climb, and work in confined or elevated spaces
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Willingness to work in industrial, outdoor, and test environments
