Caregiver / Personal Care Assistant (Part-Time)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and responsible caregiver to assist a high school student with quadriplegia. This position involves providing support with daily activities, transportation, and ensuring his needs are met throughout the day. The ideal candidate will be patient, attentive, organized, and comfortable assisting with personal care while promoting independence whenever possible.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with completing morning routines, including dressing and personal preparation for school.
- Provide transportation to and from school.
- Transport to medical appointments and therapy sessions, including occasional travel to Mobile, Alabama.
- Assist with minor personal care needs throughout the day.
- Help set up meals and adaptive equipment to allow for independent feeding.
- Assist with technology needs, including setting up devices for online access, communication, and schoolwork.
- Ensure necessary items and supplies are readily available and accessible.
- Monitor comfort, safety, and overall well-being.
- Provide companionship, encouragement, and support while promoting independence.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and securing mobility equipment as needed.
- Communicate effectively with family members regarding schedules, appointments, and any concerns.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Experience providing care for individuals with disabilities preferred but not required.
- Ability to lift, transfer, or assist with mobility-related tasks as needed (training will be provided).
- Dependable, punctual, and professional.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Work Schedule:
Part-time position. Hours will primarily include:
- Morning assistance before school.
- Afternoon assistance after school.
- Transportation to appointments as needed.
- Additional hours may be available during school breaks and summer months.
