Responsibilities include: Educating patients in oral health, providing post-treatment instructions, preparing patients for treatment including taking x-rays, setting up rooms for dental procedures, assisting professional dental staff with treatments, sterilizing and disinfecting instruments and rooms.
Requirements include X-ray certification and Maryland License

Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic techniques are followed rigorously.
- Assist dentists chairside during procedures such as restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans, while maintaining proper radiation safety protocols.
- Monitor vital signs and medical history updates to support comprehensive patient assessments.
- Educate patients on post-treatment care, oral hygiene practices, and treatment plans to enhance their understanding and comfort.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and managing medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry procedures as well as specialized fields like endodontics and prosthodontics.
- Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, intraoral cameras, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools safely and effectively.
- Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with dentists, hygienists, pediatric specialists, and patients alike.
