EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position supports laboratory testing that helps monitor environmental conditions across the Commonwealth. It involves preparing samples, conducting chemical analyses, and supporting accurate reporting. As a Chemist 1, you will perform the following duties:

Sample Preparation: Prepare water and wastewater samples, standards, reagents, and quality control materials for testing

Chemical Analysis: Perform laboratory tests for solids, dissolved solids, osmotic pressure, and other required measurements

Data Management: Record results, maintain chain of custody, and enter information into laboratory systems

Instrument Use: Operate balances and analytical instruments while following standard operating procedures

Quality Control: Follow safety rules, use certified standards, and support internal quality assurance requirements

Sample Receipt: Receive, sort, label, and document incoming samples and resolve identification issues with collectors

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Limited Term: Six-month full-time employment

Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $26.57 per hour (before taxes).
