Buffalo Medical Group is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Imaging Services team working at our Williamsville and Orchard Park locations. This role provides patient-centered nursing care for imaging procedures, including assessment, education, IV contrast administration, patient monitoring, documentation, and collaboration with radiologists and technologists to support safe, efficient patient flow.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares IV contrast material for administration to patient.
- Maintains and educates staff on sterile technique.
- Provides and documents education to patients before, during and after IV injection of contrast materials, including management of side effects.
- Responsible that all required medical forms are completed and signed by the patient and required medical personnel.
- Communicates to attending radiologists which patient presents with contra-indications for IV contrast injections including those who are at high risk for a reaction.
- Reviews all CT schedules 24-48 hours prior for information that may make a patient ineligible for a contrast injection; communicate information to referring physician.
- Requests and reviews patient chart when needed.
- Manages, documents, and reports all allergic reactions.
- Reviews patient history with radiologist in order to obtain CT protocol that will optimize patient’s exam.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of all medical equipment used by the nursing staff in Imaging
- Works in conjunction with the CT and MRI Technologists to assure proper coding for billing purposes.
- Assist Nuclear Medicine Staff, as needed. Inject CCK, Lasix, and radioisotopes as needed.
- Contacts referring physician when referral form or coding is not available.
- Maintains supplies.
- Maintains a clean patient environment at all times.
- Maintains crash cart and MRI box including monthly review (documents).
- Assist with patient triage and daily patient flow.
- Works with CT Technologists to accommodate add-ons and emergencies in a timely manner
- Bandages all breast biopsy patient post procedure. Assists Radiologist with complications during a biopsy
- Participates in staff meetings and in-services.
- Complies with BMG Corporate Compliance Policy and HIPAA regulations.
- Other tasks as assigned/required.
SCHEDULE: (5) days per week typically 8am-4:30pm
WORK LOCATION: 295 Essjay Road in Williamsville NY and 3900 North Buffalo Street in Orchard Park, NY
EDUCATION AND TRAINING: AAS or BSN from an accredited school of nursing. Current NYS license; continuing education as required by NYS and BMG. Current ALS or BLS from an accredited organization. Two or more years of IV experience preferred.
EQUIPMENT USED: Crash Cart, oxygen tanks, IV pumps, pressure injector. Must be familiar with CT scanner operation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Standing, walking, and lifting involved daily. Must be able to lift and/or move 20 lbs..
WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequently exposed to infectious materials such as blood and other bodily fluids.
Pay: $29.70 - $44.55 per hour
