The Extrusion Manager is responsible for overseeing the smooth and efficient operation of the extrusion department, ensuring that production runs efficiently, safely, and at the highest quality standards. This role involves managing day-to-day operations, including troubleshooting technical issues, training and developing staff, and coordinating maintenance and repair activities for extrusion machinery. The manager will also ensure compliance with safety, quality, and production standards while continuously working to improve processes, reduce downtime, and minimize waste. The Extrusion Manager will act as a leader in the department, guiding and supporting a team of employees, monitoring performance, and addressing any human resource-related issues such as payroll, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions. In addition to technical duties, the Extrusion Manager will play a key role in problem-solving and root cause analysis related to production issues and quality control, contributing to the overall success of the manufacturing process.
Duties
§ Ensure smooth running operation of extrusion department
§ Technical advice and advanced troubleshooting
§ Training and development of new mechanics
§ Design of tooling
§ Bring new equipment online
§ Maintain and/or improve quality, safety, and production
§ Monitor and reduce scrap
§ Track and reduce downtime along with minimizing changeover times
§ Monitor material usage
§ Move and adjust color concentrate inventory
§ Monitor tooling and parts inventory
§ Generate work order
§ Minor troubleshooting of chillers, air compressors, and air conditioners
§ Schedule maintenance and machine repairs
§ Perform quality trainings and root cause resolution
§ Perform end of year rebuilds
§ Setup lines and equipment for future runs
§ Demonstrate the initiative to do what is necessary to keep the production flowing by performing duties within their skill set and based on procedure
§ Ensure compliance with company policies and guidelines
§ Manage all shift related Human Resource issues, which includes but is not limited to managing payroll, disciplinary action, performance evaluations, ongoing feedback as it relates to performance, terminations when necessary and all other duties which include an employee’s performance
§ Communicate any issues that may impact the customer and Company financially
§ Reviewing and completing all records, reports, and documents to comply with company operational expectations
§ Ensure OSHA related documentation is completed and submitted timely
§ Feedback to production mechanic and/or QC inspector concerning product quality
§ Making the best use of your time under often demanding situations; along with ensuring that your manpower needs are being met
§ Perform the responsibilities of other positions as needed and directed
