AV Chapel Specialist - Part-Time
Summary
The AV Chapel Specialist provides audiovisual planning, technical support, and event production services for Covenant College Chapel events and programs. This position is responsible for maintaining audiovisual equipment, coordinating AV support, managing event-related technology logistics, and supporting student employees assigned to audiovisual services. The AV Chapel Specialist works collaboratively with Technology Services, the Chapel department, campus departments, and external vendors to deliver high-quality event experiences that support the mission and operational needs of Covenant College.
Essential Functions
Chapel ProductionTechnical Support

Provide primary audiovisual and technical production support for Chapel services, rehearsals, soundchecks, and related Chapel programs.

Operate or oversee sound reinforcement, presentation, livestream, recording, and other audiovisual systems used in Chapel.

Set up, test, and strike audiovisual equipment before and after rehearsals, Chapel services, and related programs.

Troubleshoot and resolve audiovisual, connectivity, presentation, and production issues in a timely manner.

Coordinate with Chapel staff regarding service plans, production needs, schedules, and technical requirements.
LivestreamRecorded Media

Operate or oversee the livestream for Chapel services and ensure appropriate audio and video quality.
- Edit and post Chapel service videos to the College's designated online platforms.
- Maintain an organized workflow for Chapel recordings and related digital media.
- Support improvements to Chapel livestreaming, recording, and production processes in coordination with Technology Services.
Student Employee SupervisionTraining

Train, schedule, supervise, and provide ongoing guidance to student employees assigned to Chapel audiovisual support.
- Ensure student employees understand equipment operation, production procedures, safety expectations, and service standards.
- Provide backup coverage and personally perform assigned AV functions when student employees are unavailable.
- Provide feedback and coaching to support reliable student performance and development.
Equipment MaintenanceOperational Support

Inventory, install, configure, repair, maintain, and support audiovisual equipment used in the Chapel.
- Perform routine equipment checks and identify maintenance, repair, replacement, or upgrade needs.

Maintain appropriate documentation related to Chapel AV equipment, systems, and operating procedures.

Coordinate with Technology Services staff and external vendors as needed to resolve technical issues or support system improvements.
- Attend regular Chapel department team meetings to coordinate support needs and upcoming programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Information Officer to support the mission and operational needs of Covenant College.

Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a combination of office, classroom, auditorium, conference, chapel, and event environments.
- Regular use of audiovisual equipment, computers, presentation technology, sound systems, lighting systems, and standard office technology.
- Frequent interaction with faculty, staff, students, vendors, speakers, and event participants.
- Evening and weekend work is regularly required to support campus events, performances, conferences, and special programs.

Position requires movement throughout campus to provide event support and technical assistance.
Physical Demands

Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout campus and event venues for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift, carry, move, install, and store audiovisual equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computers, audiovisual equipment, tools, and technical systems.
- Ability to climb ladders or work in elevated positions when necessary to support audiovisual installations.

Frequent verbal communication with faculty, staff, students, vendors, and event participants.
Qualifications
Required
-
Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience supporting audiovisual systems, event technology, or related technical operations.

Basic familiarity with Windows and Apple operating systems.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and event priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to explain technical concepts and procedures to non-technical users.
Preferred
- Experience supporting audiovisual services in higher education, conference services, performing arts, worship, or event environments.

Experience supervising student employees or event support staff.
- Knowledge of sound reinforcement systems, projection systems, lighting systems, and presentation technology.
- Graduate of Covenant College.
