We are seeking a skilled K-2 Reading Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year. The Reading Specialist will provide both targeted intervention support to struggling readers and small group instruction within the whole class environment.
The successful applicant will:
- create and foster a safe, organized, and respectful learning environment
- assess students’ reading abilities, identify areas of need, establish goals, and design and implement interventions for one-on-one and small group settings
- utilize evidence-based intervention strategies and stay current on developments in reading instruction
- monitor and document student progress toward goals and communicate progress to classroom teachers and families
- collaborate with teachers to modify curriculum based on student needs and provide in-class student support as needed
- uphold the mission of St. John Fisher School and model the Catholic faith
- an undergraduate degree (BA, BS) from an accredited university or college
- special education or reading specialist certification preferred
- experience working with K-2 students
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
