Quality Lab Specialist: Rockford, IL
Our client is seeking a Quality Lab Specialist to play a vital role in ensuring products consistently meet customer specifications and quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. This hands-on position is responsible for performing inspections, maintaining quality documentation, supporting calibration activities, and partnering with production to identify and resolve quality concerns. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and thrives in a collaborative manufacturing environment where accuracy, continuous improvement, and teamwork are essential. This position also offers the opportunity to expand responsibilities and grow professionally within the quality function as experience and business needs evolve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performing dimensional and visual inspections on raw materials, in-process components, customer samples, and finished products
- Using precision inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, ring gages, pin gages, thread gages, optical comparators, and other measuring instruments
- Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to determine product conformance
- Conducting routine production floor inspections and verifying manufacturing documentation
- Maintaining inspection records, quality documentation, and traceability records.
- Assisting with nonconforming material investigations, corrective actions, customer complaints, and root cause analysis
- Supporting PPAP documentation, control plans, process flows, and capability studies as experience allows
- Managing gage calibration activities and maintaining measurement control records
- Participating in ISO 9001 quality system activities and internal audits
- Collaborating with production, engineering, customer service, and management to resolve quality concerns
- Helping train production personnel on inspection methods and quality expectation s
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and professional quality laboratory
Skills & Experience :
- Education : HSD, required ; Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in Quality , Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field , strongly preferred
- Experience : 5+ years experience in fastener, screw, cold heading/forming manufacturing, required
- Knowledge: Thread fasteners, dimensional inspection practices, gage calibration, required
- Abilities : Proficiency reading & interpreting blueprints and using precision measuring equipment & inspection gages, required

Pay: $60,000 - $100,000/year, based on experience
