Job Summary
This role covers the tail end of order fulfillment, packing items securely and getting them staged for pickup on schedule. You'll pull items to match each order, confirm quantities, and pack with enough material to keep things from shifting in transit. The workload isn't constant through the day. It builds toward the late-morning pickup window, and that's when you're packing at a faster clip while still double-checking your work. You'll cushion fragile items, seal boxes with tape, and print labels as orders come ready. Watching supply levels is part of the role too, since running low on labels mid-shift creates a backup for everyone behind you. Lifting comes with the job, typically boxes in the 20 to 35 pound range. Each package gets scanned right before it ships, which is what locks in the tracking number in our system. Most mismatches turn up during that scan, while there's still time to correct them. After a few shifts, the whole process starts to feel automatic. Competitive compensation comes with the position, along with a schedule that stays fairly steady.
Responsibilities
- Pulling items to match each order
- Pack fragile items with enough cushioning to hold up
- Sealing boxes and attaching printed labels
- Staging finished packages for pickup
- Restock tape and labels before the shelf runs bare
- Scan packages just before they ship
- Tidying the packing station during quieter stretches
- Flag mismatched quantities before a box gets sealed
Qualifications
- Small mismatches rarely slip past you, even when you're moving quickly through a stack of orders.
- Bringing up a concern with a coworker or supervisor is something you handle right away, not something you sit on.
- When the late-morning rush hits, you keep your pace instead of falling behind on the queue.
- Basic scanning tools and packing software are things you get comfortable with fairly fast.
- You're someone who shows up for your shift on time, since the line depends on it.
- If a label jams or a seal won't hold, you work through the problem rather than setting it aside.
- Your station tends to stay in order, since you reset it as you go rather than letting it build up.
- Staying level-headed once things get busy is something you manage without much difficulty.
