The TV One Post Production Facility is an Avid Technology environment (Media Composer, Media Central Production Management, Nexis), with Telestream Vantage transcoding and Xendata LTO. The Post Production Facility Technician will assist the Post Production Engineer and the Manager of Technical Operations and Support in providing frontline support for this infrastructure, and will serve as the backup encoding and duplication technician.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor equipment and software function, including SnapStream recording, available Avid Nexis storage space,
- Support Xendata LTO Archiving operation by fulfilling offline media recalls, archiving deliverables and original media, and managing LTO tapes.
- Back up and delete media from Avid Nexis
- Back up existing library of USB drives to Xendata.
- Provide support, file back up and file recalls for SnapStream on air monitors
- Provide support for videotape tape duplication and DVD creation. Serve as the primary backup for the encoding/duplication technician.
- Encoding and Duplication, using a variety of video file and tape formats
- Develop workflows for evolving work environments
- Provide digitized files for non-linear editing
- Perform basic non-linear editing
- Process and review QC evaluation reports to verify accuracy
- File creation, organization, and transcoding
- Embedding and organizing caption files
- Organizing shows and promos in Tversity library
- Performance of other production duties, as needed
Creating and encoding clips, seamless shows, and VOD

knowledge/skills/abilities:
- Working experience with common video file formats – QuickTime, MXF, MP4…
- A basic understanding of video theory, production, and post production workflows.
- Practical experience in hardware, software and workflow troubleshooting.
- Good understanding of Windows environment. Apple knowledge, a plus
- Strong working knowledge of Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere
- Strong working knowledge of Telestream Vantage
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office
- Working Knowledge of CaptionMaker
- Strong analytical and logical problem solving skills.
- Organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail, organized and thorough, with desire for continuous improvement.
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively under changing priorities and challenging deadlines
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Performance of other production duties, as needed
- Team player with a positive attitude and a focus on engineering issues.
- The ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Able to work onsite 40 hours/week
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Complies with Network and Urban One’s mandatory trainings and adheres to related course deadlines.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience) in media production, engineering or a related field.
