Position Summary
A SPoTter is a versatile cafe team member who prepares and serves outstanding coffee beverages and fresh food while delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment. This role requires cross-training across four key stations: kitchen, expo, cashier, and barista. The ideal candidate thrives in a team-focused atmosphere, maintains high standards of quality and cleanliness, and contributes to creating a unique community experience at SPoT Coffee
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen
· Prepare, cook, and assemble various food offerings according to portion standards
· Receive and verify food/beverage deliveries, ensuring proper product rotation (FIFO)
· Maintain sanitation and safety standards in kitchen areas
· Operate kitchen equipment including ovens, panini presses, and waffle irons
Expo
· Serve and call out food and beverage orders
· Maintain clean, organized kitchen and seating areas
· Grind retail coffee beans
Cashier
· Operate POS system and process customer payments
· Communicate enthusiastically with customers about SPoT Coffee offerings
· Educate guests on product quality and available services
Barista
· Prepare beverages according to SPoT Coffee recipe standards
· Demonstrate thorough knowledge of espresso drink preparation techniques
· Maintain proper grind, steaming, extraction, and service standards
General
- Complete daily and weekly cleaning tasks and opening/closing procedures
- Stock all cafe areas and maintain equipment
- Clear and prepare tables for guest use
- Wash dishes, cutlery, and cooking utensils
- Assist with inventory and putting away orders
- Maintain clear communication with management team
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Cafe or similar food service experience
- Coffee/espresso bar experience preferred
Skills
· Strong teamwork abilities and customer-focused attitude
· Working knowledge of food safety and handling regulations
· Understanding of culinary basics and espresso drink preparation
· Excellent communication and customer service skills
· Ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks
· Initiative, forward-thinking, and follow-through on responsibilities
Working Conditions
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Physical requirements: lift up to 50lbs, frequent bending/twisting
- Fast-paced environment requiring extended periods on feet
- Regular handling of food, hot beverages, and sharp objects
- Ability to adjust vision for varied lighting conditions
