Dunning Electrical Services, Inc. is looking for an experienced Service Electrician to join our growing team. We have a steady backlog of residential, multi-family, and light commercial service work throughout the Chicagoland area and are looking for a professional who enjoys troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, and providing quality service to customers.
Our service territory covers approximately 25-50 miles throughout the Chicago metropolitan area, and most of our work comes from long-term repeat customers who value dependable, knowledgeable electricians.

IMPORTANT
This is a Residential, Multi-Family, and Light Commercial SERVICE position.
This is NOT an industrial, manufacturing, factory maintenance, PLC programming, controls engineering, or automation position.
Applicants whose experience is primarily in industrial manufacturing, production facilities, or factory maintenance without residential/commercial service experience are encouraged to seek opportunities better aligned with their background.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot electrical problems and determine appropriate repairs.
- Diagnose power loss, circuit failures, breaker issues, lighting problems, and equipment malfunctions.
- Install, repair, and replace electrical equipment and fixtures.
- Perform residential and commercial service calls.
- Install conduit, raceways, cable systems, and wiring.
- Bend conduit and pull wire.
- Troubleshoot motors, controls, switches, circuits, and related electrical systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and electrical repairs.
- Read electrical blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
- Follow City of Chicago electrical codes, OSHA regulations, and company safety standards.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on Residential and/or Commercial Service Electrical experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Able to work independently and manage service calls.
- Familiar with electrical blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
- Proficient with electrical hand tools and testing equipment.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Must communicate professionally with customers and coworkers.
- Must read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Clean, professional appearance.
- No history of alcohol or substance abuse.
Vehicle Requirement
- Must own a dependable truck or van capable of transporting ladders, conduit, tools, and materials.
Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday daytime service calls throughout the Chicagoland area.
- Travel within approximately a 25-50 mile radius of Chicago.
- Occasional evening and weekend emergency or scheduled service calls may be available.
