Part-Time Closing Teaching Assistant (Permanent Position)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 29.5 hours per week
Hours: 11:30 AM or 12:00 PM – 5:30 PM
Location: Rogers-Pierce Children’s Center (RPCC) – Arlington Center
Rogers-Pierce Children’s Center (RPCC) is a non-profit, play-based early childhood program dedicated to providing a warm, nurturing, and engaging environment where children build confidence, explore, and learn through developmentally appropriate experiences.
We are seeking a Part-Time Certified Teaching Assistant to join our team. This position requires a Preschool Teacher Certification and a person who truly enjoys working with young children. The ideal candidate is caring, dependable, flexible, and passionate about early childhood education. Candidates must enjoy engaging with children through play, exploration, and outdoor activities.
This position is approximately 29.5 hours per week. The candidate must be flexible and willing to provide additional classroom support when needed, including covering teacher absences. On occasion, hours may exceed 35 hours depending on program needs and staffing coverage.
Responsibilities:
- Support the lead teacher with daily classroom activities, routines, and transitions.
- Work collaboratively with co-teachers to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
- Supervise and guide children using positive guidance strategies.
- Engage children in play-based learning, conversations, activities, and outdoor play.
- Assist with maintaining a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
- Provide classroom coverage when teachers are absent.
- Be flexible and willing to support the needs of the center.
Qualifications:
- Preschool Teacher Certification required.
- Experience working with preschool-aged children in a childcare or school setting preferred.
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Must love working with children and enjoy being actively involved in their daily experiences.
- Must enjoy outdoor play and exploration with children.
- Warm, positive, dependable, and team-oriented approach.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work safely in a childcare environment.
- Flexible schedule and willingness to support staffing needs.
