PDR TECH
Cavender Buick GMC North is seeking an experienced Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) Technician to join our team. This is a rare opportunity for a skilled PDR professional to step out of the mobile vendor grind and into a stable, full-time dealership position with consistent volume, full benefits, and a regular Monday–Friday schedule.
You will be our dedicated PDR specialist, responsible for repairing dents and dings on new and pre-owned inventory across the dealership lot. This is not a hail-only or light-ding-only role — we need a technician capable of handling the full range of PDR work, from door dings to large dents, creases, and aluminum panel repair.
We are investing in an in-house program because we believe in quality control and faster turnaround. If you take pride in your craft and want a long-term home with a dealership that values your skill set, this is the role.
What You'll Do
- Perform paintless dent repair on dealership inventory, including new, pre-owned, and service customer vehicles
- Handle the full spectrum of PDR work: door dings, large dents, creases, dings on body lines, and aluminum panel repair
- Assess vehicle damage on the lot and determine appropriate repair methods — PDR vs. referral for paint/body work
- Perform proactive lot walks to identify and repair dents on incoming inventory before it reaches the sales floor
- Maintain high quality standards — repairs should be invisible to the customer and meet dealership presentation requirements
- Work independently with minimal supervision, managing your own queue and prioritizing repairs to support sales throughput
- Track and document completed repairs for management reporting
What You Need
- 5+ years of professional PDR experience
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex dent repair — not limited to hail damage or light dings. You should be confident with large dents, creases, body line damage, and aluminum panels
- Own a complete set of professional PDR tools and equipment (rods, tabs, glue-pull system, light board, etc.)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the dealership
Preferred Qualifications
- Vale Certification or completion of an accredited PDR training program (e.g., Rightlook, Dent Mechanics, PDR Academy, or equivalent)
- Experience working in a dealership or high-volume reconditioning environment
- Familiarity with aluminum body panels and modern vehicle construction materials
- I-CAR or ASE certifications (not required, but a plus)
Why This Role Is Different
Most PDR technicians work as contractors — driving between 5–10 dealerships a day, dealing with weather, traffic, inconsistent volume, and no benefits. This role eliminates all of that:
- Stable— no travel between locations, no weather dependence, no chasing storms
- Consistent volume — GMC North moves enough inventory to keep a skilled tech busy with plenty of headroom for growth
- Full W-2 benefits — health insurance, 401(k), PTO, and the security of a regular paycheck
- Monday–Friday, 8–5 — no weekends, no on-call, no evenings
- Competitive compensation — $65K–$100K based on skill and experience
- Career stability — long-term position with a dealership investing in its in-house reconditioning program
